Dagupan’s Super Family Health Center serves 11,800 patients
THE Super Family Health Center established by the Department of Health (DOH) on a lot owned by the Dagupan City government in Barangay Bolosan has served 11,800 patients since it opened in August 2024.
Mayor Belen Fernandez said since it was turned over to the city government eight months ago, it has provided health services to residents from Bolosan, Tambac, Mamalingling, Salisay, Mangin and Tebeng, all in the eastern part of the city, who previously had to travel to the Dagupan City Health Office in Barangay Herrero-Perez East.
Built on a 670-square-meter lot, it is so far the largest Super Family Health Center in Region 1. Its access road leading to the facility was donated to the city government by businessman-philanthropist Ashok Vasandani at the request of the mayor.
Costing P30 million, with about P20 million from the DOH and P10 million from the Dagupan City government, it began its operations shortly after its inauguration despite its lack of a perimeter fence and air-conditioning system.
These inadequacies were addressed when the proposed P551 million supplement budget was finally passed in November last year, following the three-month preventive suspension of three majority councilors who were delaying the fund.
Fernandez said another Super Family Health Center is set to rise in Malued on a lot just bought by the city government to serve patients from Malued and other southern barangays, and another one is being planned in one of the island barangays.
She earlier announced the revival of the extension facilities of the City Health Office in Tondaligan in Bonuan Gueset, and in Bonuan Binloc, both of which were closed under the previous Lim administration. (Leonardo Micua)
