Dagupan West I students undergo reading assessment
ALL students of West Central 1 Elementary School in Dagupan City, from Grades 1 to 6, underwent a reading assessment before the new academic year opened on June 16 to gauge proficiency, which will help teachers design their lessons accordingly.
The school’s principal, Dr. Renato Santillan, said the assessment complied with directives from the City Schools Division Office under the leadership of Dr. Rowena Banzon.
In an interview with Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, he also reported that the school reached its target of 1,600 enrollees this year, and the number is expected to increase to 1,700 to 1,800 with the addition of late enrollees.
West Central 1 Elementary School serves several barangays, including Barangays 1, 2, 3, 4, and Poblacion. The school also caters to residents from neighboring areas such as Binmaley, Pantal, and other adjacent towns of Dagupan.
In a separate statement, Santillan also thanked all stakeholders for the successful Brigada Eskwela program, a school preparation program that was a collaborative effort with the local government unit of Dagupan, barangay officials, teachers, and parents.
He also extended his thanks to the City Health Office Sanitary Division, which conducted misting and larvicidal treatments around the school premises to combat dengue-carrying mosquitoes and ensure the health and safety of the students.
Before the start of classes, 50 underprivileged learners also received school supplies, courtesy of the school’s outreach programs aimed at assisting families from vulnerable sectors. Some students also received eyeglasses in support of their learning needs. (Ahikam Pasion)
