SP majority bloc congratulates May 12 winners
THE members of majority councilors of Dagupan City, who are stepping down by the end of June after losing in the May 12 elections, congratulated the winners of the midterm poll when the Sangguniang Panlungsod resumed its session on May 20, without the usual animosity that pervaded during sessions in the last three years.
Before opening the business of the day, Acting Majority Floor Leader Alvin Coquia took the occasion to congratulate the winners: Vice Mayor and SP Presiding Officer Bryan Kua, who won a third and final term of office, Councilor Michael Fernandez, who got the most number of votes among the councilors, and will serve his third and final term.
Current Majority Floor Leader Librada Reyna, the only one from the opposition LiFe team who won in the election and taking the 10th and last slot for councilor, was also cited for her successful return.. She was on leave during the May 20 session.
Also on leave from the majority block were Councilors Alfie Fernandez and Irene Lim-Acosta. Councilor Jeslito Lim, from the minority side, was also on leave.
Those present from the majority bloc, aside from Coquia, were Councilors Celia Lim, Marilou Fernandez and Redford Erie-Mejia, while present among the minority bloc were Councilors Dennis Canto, Marcelino Fernandez, and Bradley Benavides.
