Calasiao kaleskes eatery has valid sanitary permit 

THE owner of an eatery in Calasiao serving the delicacy kaleskes, which became viral after a customer uploaded an unflattering photo of the place on Facebook, belied that her establishment is unsanitary, citing that they have a valid sanitary permit issued by the local government.

In an exclusive interview by IFM News Dagupan, she asserted that they have not just the document signed by the sanitary inspector but all the regulatory permits required. (Jam Victorio)

Mass for Pope Francis held in Dagupan

LINGAYEN-DAGUPAN Archbishop Socrates Villegas officiated a mass attended by hundreds of Catholic faithful for the departed Pope Francis, whose remains were brought to his final resting place on April 26 at the Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Rome.

In his homily, Villegas cited Pope Francis teachings that had become inspirations to the faithful, saying that in his last days, despite his failing health, he continued to demonstrate his faith, setting an example to all Catholics worldwide. (Rona Racca)

Woman shot in the mouth dead 

A 63- year old woman was declared dead on arrival at the Malasiqui Municipal Hospital after she was shot in the mouth by a still unidentified suspect.

The nephew of the victim said his aunt was inside their sari-sari store when a motorcycle rider wearing a white crash helmet pulled over and pretended to buy food, then shot her.  The suspect then sped to a still unknown direction. (Jam Victorio)

Single-use plastic banned in Pozorrubio 

THE Pozorrubio Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office is now strictly enforcing a municipal ordinance banning single-use plastic and Styrofoam products.

Violators will be fined from P500 to P2500 for the first, second and third offenses and imprisonment of up to six months upon the discretion of the court. (Jam Victorio)

Pangasinan election ‘areas of concern’ still peaceful 

ALL areas in Pangasinan placed under the Yellow Category or Areas of Concern by the Commission on Elections remain peaceful and orderly, barely two weeks before the May 12 mid-term election.

These places include cities of Urdaneta and Dagupan, Mangaldan, Malasiqui, Binmaley, Aguilar, and San Quintin. (Rona Racca)

DECORP charges higher electricity rate in April 

THE Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP) announced its new average selling rate for the month of April at 10.56/kWh, higher than the P9.4812/kWh in March, due to higher power rates in the  Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) as well as the Transmission charges from NGCP. (Ella Garcia)

Natividad farmer arrested for illegal mining

A 61-year old farmer from Natividad was arrested by the police for illegal mining based on the warrant of arrest issued by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Third Judicial Region in Tarlac.

The suspect was charged for violation of the  Mining Act of 1995 o Republic Act 7942 with a recommended bail bond of P36,000 for his temporary liberty. The suspect is now under the custody of the Natividad Police Station. (Joana de Vera)

Pangasinan police intensifies loose firearm drive 

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office further intensified its campaign against loose firearms as the May 12 mid-term election draws near.

To date, PPPO has seized 54 firearms, recovered 11 others while 117 firearms of different owners were deposited, and 103 firearms were surrendered. (Rona Racca)
