AFTER non-stop daily campaigning for 45 days, Gina de Venecia expressed confidence that the legacy of her family, the Serbisyong 3-in-1, will continue in the Fourth District when she wins again as congressional representative.

In a talk to newsmen at her residence in Barangay Bonuan Binloc on May 8, De Venecia said her confidence in taking victory comes from the reception she received from the people she touched based in Dagupan City, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto and Manaoag.

“I am so happy. After nine years, I am finally going back to my former position,” she said, noting that the nine-year old children rooting for her before in the campaign trail are now eligible voters.

The congressional seat will be vacated by her son Christopher who made his own name in the 17th to 19th Congress, particularly as champion of the Philippine creative industry.

Manay Gina said she will continue the works of her son Christopher in the area of scholarship, livelihood, the unfinished Pasalubong Center in Manaoag, the Edades-Bernal Museum in Dagupan City, and the Calmay Bridge now being built by the Department of Public Works and Highways that will link Barangays Tapuac and Calmay in Dagupan, among others.

On legislation, she vowed to pass a law providing for a one-stop shop in every congressional district that will put together all agencies of the government in one center to make public services more accessible and convenient.

On health care, she will continue to help the Region I Medical Center and seek its modernization, and for Dagupan City, she vowed to sustain her promise to reelectionist Mayor Belen Fernandez to look for funds so that the aborted Mother and Child Hospital could be revived.

Facing only a token opponent in the May 12 election, De Venecia still campaigned vigorously, making the rounds of the 140 barangays in the district aside from attending various public engagements. (Leonardo Micua)
