Cluster 6 barangays top Gilon-Gilon ed Baley anew

DAGUPAN City’s Cluster 6 barangays composed of Pogo Chico, Lucao, Malued and Tapuac scored back-to- back championship when it won anew the Gilon-Gilon ed Baley street dancing competition in the 2025 Bangus Festival, packing the same intensity and passion it did in last year’s event before a crowd of thousands of spectators.
For its superb focal presentation that captivated a live audience at the city plaza in the evening of April 26, the Cluster 6 street dancers brought home a grand prize of P200,000.
It was also adjudged as the Best Street Dancer in the competition, winning an additional P50,000, as it wowed roadside spectators with their spectacular movements and grace, adapting the moves of fish farmers harvesting bangus from their ponds on a moonlit night.
The dance steps in Gilon- Gilon ed Baley was patented when then vice mayor and now Mayor Belen Fernandez was chair of the executive committee of the Golden Anniversary of Dagupan in the 1990s, and improved across the years.
Cluster 3, composed of the One Bonuan Barangays (Gueset, Boquig and Binloc) was adjudged the first runner-up and went home with the P150,000 second prize.
The second runner-up honor went to Cluster 2, composed of Bolosan, Mamalingling, Mangin, Salisay, Tambac and Tebeng, and was awarded P100,000.
Third runner-up was Cluster 4, composed of Barangay I, Barangay II and III, Barangay IV, Lasip Grande, Pogo Grande and Pogo Chico, winning P75,000.
Cluster 4 (Calmay, Carael, Lomboy, Poblacion Oeste, Pugaro and Salapingao) was fourth runner-up, with a prize of P50,000; while Cluster 1 (Bacayao Norte, Bacayao Sur, Caranglaan, Herrero Perez and Mayombo) is fifth runner up, bagging P30,000.
First runner-up in street dancing is Cluster 4 and was awarded P30,000; while the second runner- up was Cluster 3, P20,000.
Best in costume was Cluster 2, winning P30,000.
Among those who witnessed the Gilon- Gilon- ed Baley at the city plaza were former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., his wife Manay Gina de Venecia, and their son Rep. Christopher de Venecia. (Leonardo Micua)
