Rehab of Wawa Bridge in Bayambang starts

By April 7, 2025Inside News

THE collapsed 442-meter Carlos Romulo Bridge in Bayambang town, also referred to as ‘Wawa Bridge’, is finally undergoing full rehabilitation following a ceremonial start on March 31, 2025 led by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Rommel Tan and Mayor Mary Jose-Quiambao.

The DPWH allocated P300 million for the complete restoration of the structure.

Built in 1945, the bridge collapsed in October 2022 due to two trucks that weighed beyond the bridge’s 20-ton capacity.

A  bailey bridge was built in November that year to provide temporary access.

Bayambang Municipal Administrator Rodelyn Rajino Sagarino-Vidad said the full rehabilitation of Wawa bridge is necessary to ensure  safer road travel. (Kim Gealogo)
