Campaigners must secure permit from PNP 

THE Dagupan City Police Station reminded all candidates and their supporters that they still need to secure a Permit to Campaign before engaging in election-related activities in the city.

Dagupan City Police Chief Lt. Colonel Brendon B. Palisoc said this is necessary to avoid unnecessary inconveniences to the public whenever the candidates are holding rallies, motorcades and other political activities. (Ella Garcia)

CSC: Government workers should be non-partisan

THE Civil Service Commission and the Commission on Elections ruled that government employees must not get involved in any partisan political activities, including the distribution of campaign paraphernalia of candidates.

All those in government service, except those under job order and contract of service while outside working hours, must maintain neutrality. On the other hand, barangay captains and kagawads are allowed by law to campaign for their chosen candidates. (Mathew Pacheco)

Urdaneta student accidentally shoots self 

AN 18-year old student from Urdaneta City was hospitalized when he accidentally shot himself with the revolver he was carrying, an act prohibited by the COMELEC under the election gun ban.

The victim, who sustained one gunshot wound in his lower extremities, was rushed by his friends to the nearest hospital, and is now recovering. The gun has been turned over to the police. (Joana de Vera)

DCPS issues reminder to prevent road rage 

THE Dagupan City Police Station has issued a reminder to motorists to prevent the occurrence of  road rage, like what happened recently in Antipolo City involving a car driver and several motorcycle riders that resulted in a shooting incident.

DCPS said when faced with a similar situation, it is crucial to remain calm and not allow emotions to take over. It also reminded motorists to avoid being in a rush as this can cause added stress when on the road. (Rona Racca)

Campaign season bodes well for jingle writers

WRITING political campaign jingles is a seasonal industry that provides good income for writers and composers, according to a local songwriter Ron Zamora, although artificial intelligence poses a threat to creatives.

In an exclusive interview by IFM Dagupan, Zamora said local candidates have been seeking his services as early as December 2024. Jingle fees range from P12,000 to P25,000, excluding copyright fee for the original  composition if the jingle is derived from and existing  song. (Jam Victorio)

Fish demand up amid low supply

SALES of fish, shellfish and other seafood products at the  Magsaysay Fish Market in Dagupan City has become brisk again amid the current Lenten Season, but supply is low.

Fish vendors noted  that with the increased demand and low supply, upward price adjustments are inevitable. (Rona Raca)

LTFRB R1 issues special permits to 50 buses

THE Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board in Region 1 granted  50 special permits for buses to augment transport services during the Holy Week.

Barangay kap tears down San Quintin mayor’s campaign poster 

SAN Quintin Mayor Florence Tiu questioned the tearing down of her campaign posters at the covered court of Barangay Alac on order of Barangay Captain Mark Rodger Go.

In a Facebook post, Go defended that the posters were illegally installed as the court is not a designated common poster area and is a government-owned facility, where COMELEC prohibits such materials. (Jam Victorio)

Gataw possible in Pangasinan during hot weather 

FISH farmers in Pangasinan are not ruling out the possibility that fish kill locally known as gataw could ensue due to the prevailing hot weather condition in the province.

In an exclusive interview by  IFM News Dagupan, Jordan Carpio, technical leader of the Samahan ng Magbabangus ng Pangasinan (SAMAPA), said they have yet to record signs of gataw anywhere, but are already taking  good aquaculture  practices to avoid such occurrence.  (Rona Racca)
