Mangaldan acts swiftly on first rabies case
THE Mangaldan Municipal Health Office (MHO) reported a confirmed case of rabies in Barangay Navaluan involving a child, prompting Mayor Bona Fe de Vera-Parayno to direct all barangay leaders to strictly enforce the “Aso Mo, Itali Mo” ordinance.
The MHO, acted swiftly in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office to address the incident.
According to the victim’s grandmother, the child was bitten by a dog on March 18 after falling down accidentally on the ground.
The child was initially taken to R1 Medical Center then to the Rabies Diagnostic Laboratory in Sta. Barbara where the results confirmed a positive test for the rabies viral antigen.
The MAO promptly then conducted anti-rabies vaccinations in the barangay, inoculating 71 dogs and 14 cats. (Ahikam Pasion)
