THE Department of Health (DOH)-Ilocos Region led the blessing and inauguration of the third Super Health Center (SHC) in Pangasinan on March 17, 2025, in the town of Alcala.

DOH Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco said there will be more SHCs to be opened in Pangasinan since it has the biggest population in all the provinces in Region 1 and most of these residents are remotely located in communities that are far from hospitals.

The Alcala SHC, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023, was constructed through the DOH-Health Facility Enhancement Program with an allocation of P10 million. Another P2 million was earmarked for equipment of the facility.

Aside from the SHCs, Sydiongco said the BUCAS or the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services centers will also be established in the province to provide more health care services. (DOH-R1/CMU)
