ONE Bonuan, an umbrella term that includes the Barangays of Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Binloc, and Bonuan Boquig, is set to benefit from the reopening of the Super Family Health Center  (SFHC) which will have the capacity to serve approximately 40,000 local residents.

This was bared by City Health Officer Dr. Ofelia Rivera, during the BK – Bida Kayo sa Aksyon program aired over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan on Monday, February 24, and expressed optimism that the center will reopen in March to house a mobile clinic equipped with an X-ray machine. She noted that the facility had been neglected in the past, and its revival is a welcomed development.

Originally utilized by the Department of Health (DOH) as an operation center during the pandemic, the facility fell into disrepair after it was turned over to the city, with many parts damaged or stolen, necessitating renovations. Funds from the supplemental budget in 2022 were allocated for this purpose, but the renovations faced delays, making the current work essential.

In related news, the SHFC in Barangay Bolosan is already operational. Efforts are also underway to finalize the necessary documents for a maternity and children’s hospital in Bolosan while construction is ongoing for another SFHC in Barangay Mauled that will residents of Malued Lucao, Tapuac, Pogo Grande, Pogo, Pogo Chico, Lasip Chico, and Lasip Grande.

Funding is expected  for the construction of a SFHC in Calmay soon.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rivera said a meeting between the local government unit (LGU) and the DOH, spearheaded by Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco, was held to establish an urgent care ambulatory center at the DSWD Office. (Ahikam Pasion)
