Duterte supporters hold motorcade, prayer rally
SUPPORTERS of former President Rodrigo Duterte held a motorcade and a prayer rally in Lingayen and in Dagupan City last week to express their sentiment about his arrest and alleged forceable extradition to The Hague in the Netherlands based on a warrant from the International Criminal Court, where he is charged with crimes against humanity.
Organizers said this was their own way of expressing their solidarity and support to the former chief executive, and that they plan to continue holding similar activities in the coming days. (Rona Racca)

Manaoag poultry farm indefinitely closed
THE Manaoag municipal government imposed an indefinite suspension, for the second time, on the operation of a poultry farm in Barangay Babasit for gross violation of the Sanitation Code.
According to the Task Force Kontra Langaw formed by Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario, it found the poultry farm to have inadequate, defective and non-functioning facilities like nets, cooling pads and vector control equipment, and is improperly managing its hazardous materials. Pets also affected by high heat index
THE Office of the Provincial Veterinary in Pangasinan called on pet owners to take caution and protect their pets from the high temperature prevailing in the province.
Like humans, pets also need a bath to cool themselves off and their health and welfare must also be taken into consideration, said Provincial Veterinarian Arcely Robiniol. (Rona Racca)

Housewives cheer lower tomato price
CONSUMERS, particularly housewives, cheered the drop in tomato prices last week at P10 to P15 per kilo, and were observed to be buying in higher volumes than usual.

Meat prices still increasing
THE price of carabao meat, pork and beef in the public market of Mangaldan continued to rise, according to meat vendors interviewed by IFM Dagupan.
As of last week, a kilo of carabao and cow ribs stood at P380 per kilo, while pork liempo ranged from P420 to P430/kg., leaving many consumers unable to afford meat. (Joana de Vera)

Dagupan Water District assures safe supply
THE Pamana-Dagupan Water District has assured the safety of water it supplies to consumers in the city amid the prevailing high temperature.
Margarita Navata, Pamana-Dagupan Water District spokesperson, said the company is regularly testing the water in all its distribution service lines and found it safe and potable to drink. (Mathew Pacheco)

Drilling for potable water for island villages on
DRILLING work is ongoing for a new water pumping station that will supply water to the different island barangays of Dagupan from the mainland.
This was confirmed by Margarita Navata, spokesperson of the Pamana-Dagupan City Water District, who said the project underwent a long and exhaustive study. It will involve the laying of underground pipeline from the mainland to Barangay Calmay across the Calmay River. (Jam Victorio)

Pangasinan remains orderly 50 days prior to polls—PNP
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office said the province continues to remain peaceful and orderly 50 days before the election on May 12.
Pangasinan Police Director P/Colonel Rollyfer Capoquian said the establishment of COMELEC checkpoints in all strategic areas all over the province helped ensure the peace. To date, a total of 20 firearms had already been seized by the police since the start of the election period. (Mathew Pacheco)
