Parents, teachers undergo fire drills 

 

MEMBERS of the Dagupan Federated Parents-Teachers Association underwent fire safety drills conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection-Dagupan as part of the observance of Fire Prevention Month this March. 

 

Participants were taught on what they need to do in case of fire, and other related emergencies, i.e., the proper use of a fire extinguisher, how to administer first aid, and other life-saving measures. The activity was part of the 2025 PTA Summit organized jointly by the Dagupan City Government of led by Mayor Belen Fernandez and the Dagupan Schools Division Office led by Dr. Rowena Banzon.

Dog meat seller in Bugallon arrested 

 

THE proprietor of a meat shop and eatery in Poblacion, Bugallon was arrested for selling fresh dog meat and dog meat delicacy in an operation conducted by officials of the Animal Welfare Investigation Project (AWIP), along with members of law enforcement agencies.

 

In an exclusive interview by IFM News Dagupan, AWIP Regional Director Greg Salido Quimpo said the meat shop had long been placed under surveillance for butchering dogs and selling its meat, and at times selling the meat as a cooked delicacy. The shop owner will be facing charges for violation of the Animal Welfare Act. (Rona Racca)

Pipes used in potable water project questioned 

 

TOWN officials of San Quintin questioned the use of High Density Polyethylene Pipes in a potable water project of the municipal government in several barangays.

 

The officials pointed to the label of the black HDPE pipe that indicates it is supposed to be used only for agricultural purposes and not for a potable drinking water, adding that blue-colored pipes should have been used. (Jam Victorio)

Man runs amuck in San Carlos City 

 

A 39- year old man under the influence of drugs from San Carlos City ran amuck, quarreling with his neighbors before setting his own house on fire. 

 

Alarmed by the insane behavior of the suspect, residents called for help from the San Carlos City Police. He became more aggressive while he was being arrested and when he was investigated at the police station. Upon bodily search, the police found one sachet of suspected shabu worth P476 in his pocket.

Local artists challenged by AI 

 

AS the works of art by local artists are on exhibit in one of the local malls in Urdaneta City, the public was rallied to support their traditional, hand-made creations amid the inroads of artificial intelligence or AI. 

 

In random interviews by the IFM News Dagupan Team, many residents said they still find the art drawn on canvass by local artists more attractive than those generated on computer by AI.(Joana de Vera)

Hotline launched for water consumers 

 

THE Department of Environment Natural Resources in Region 1 has opened a hotline that water consumers can call to air their complaints against their water service providers. 

 

Under the ‘Wag Pataksaya’ Hotline, issues like water billing, meter reading and water interruption can be reported, and each case will be given a tracking number for updates on action that would be taken.
