Pangasinan PNP ready secure all campaigners this election

 PANGASINAN Police Provincial Director P/Colonel Rollyfer Capoquian, announced that his office is ready to provide security in the area for those coming to Pangasinan to campaign.

However, COMELEC Pangasinan Election Supervisor Atty. Ericson Oganiza, reminded candidates that they need to first secure a permit from the local LGU or directly from his office before campaigning in Pangasinan. (Mathew Pacheco)

No entrance fee in Mangatarem’s Daang Kalikasan

 THIS was clarified by theMangatarem local government amid fake news that it collects entrance fees from vehicle owners or persons entering the Daang Kalikasan in the town.

LGU Mangatarem, particularly its Municipal Tourism Office announced that no individuals are authorized to collect even a single centavo from anyone visiting the scenic Daang Kalikasan, which is connected to San Marcelino town in Zambales. But it will still remain closed to motorcycles. Cadaver floating along Pantal River still unidentified 

THE identity of a person found floating in the Pantal River last week has yet to be identified. The floating body was found by residents who immediately called their barangay officials.

With the help of the Philippine Coast Guard, CDRRMO, Dagupan Police and Public Order and Safety Office enforcers, the body was retrieved from the water and brought to a local funeral parlor for autopsy to find the cause of his death, and where his relatives may identify him. (Joana de Vera)

Girl raped, killed in Bayambang; 3 suspects arrested 

 THE family of a girl who was raped and killed by an unidentified suspect in Bayambang town, and whose body was found on February 19, is crying for justice.

Three men were arrested by the police in connection with the incident and are set to be charged with the case of Rape with Homicide. The victim was the youngest and only girl in a brood of four siblings, three of whom are boys. The victim’s family prayed that the suspects will pay dearly for the most heinous crimes they committed. Agno River dredging still on hold 

DREDGING of the Limahong-Agno River in Lingayen is on hold as contractors failed to respond to questions raised during two public hearings and consultations in the town.

Pangapisan North Brgy. Captain Johnamer Viray revealed that the dredging has been banned since 2008. He said there can be no dredging until the contractors of the project can show that the dredging will not affect the livelihood of fishermen in the areas to be dredged.

PSA warns late birth registration has penalty 

THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reminded the public of the penalties that will be imposed for late registration of civil documents such as birth registration.

The PSA issued the reminder amid the ongoing observance of the Civil Registration Month this February, which gives importance to civil registration as a requirement in every official transaction with the government  and even with private individuals. The Civil Registry Office of Binmaley cited the adverse effect of late birth registration not only because of its attendant penalty but because such late birth registration is prone to question and might be rendered null and void. Still no fuel subsidy for jeepney drivers, operators

AN estimated 40%-60% jeepney drivers and operators nationwide have yet to receive fuel subsidy from the government, according to the transport organization ACTO.

In an exclusive interview by IFM News Dagupan, ACTO Nationwide President, Liberty De Luna said this is happening because of the difficulty of jeepney drivers and operators to submit requirements to avail of fuel subsidy. De Luna expressed hope that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would do away with these requirement to help poor jeepney drivers and operators in these times of almost weekly fuel price increases. (Mathew Pacheco)

Filipino fishermen continued to be harassed by Chinese Coast Guard 

THE Chinese Coast Guard continues to harass fishermen whenever they venture into their traditional fishing ground near the Scarborough Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc off Zambales province.

Andy Hicap, chairman of the PAMALAKAYA Pilipinas, said in an exclusive interview by IFM Dagupan, that Filipinos are no longer free to catch fish within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone in that part of the West Philippine Sea. Because of this continuous harassment, fishermen were forced to operate only in shallow waters near the shore, reducing their catch and income by 70 to 80 percent. Colorum tricycles still teeming in Dagupan 

OPERATORS of passenger tricycles who obtained their respective franchises from the Dagupan City government complained anew against drivers and operators of colorum tricycles still teeming in the city that are not only competing with the legitimate ones but are also charging higher fares.

They hailed the issuance by the city government of regulatory stickers to tricycles covered by their respective franchises and called on the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) not to allow those without such stickers to commute paying passengers on any road in Dagupan. (Rona Racca)
