DOH brings oral health to Anda residents
IN celebration of Oral Health Month, the Department of Health – Ilocos Region brought its primary care services to the island town of Anda, to provide oral health care including primary care services such as the Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable (PhilPEN) health risk assessment to promote health awareness and provide medical care to residents with hypertension and diabetes.
The activity was led by Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco who turned over P1.5 million worth of medical equipment to the Anda local government’s Mayor Joganie Rarang: one (1) automated external defibrillator, two (2) nursing kit, one (1) hematocrit centrifuge, one (1) hemoglobinometer, one (1) weighing scale for infant, two (2) weighing scale with BMI calculator, one (1) chemistry analyzer, one (1) suction machine, and one (1) newborn hearing machine.
Assistive devices were also distributed to selected senior citizens and persons with disability (PWD) including walkers for adults, elbow crutches, and single canes.
The activity under the theme “Pamilya Una Kong Dentista: #Ngiting 7020”, was conducted in partnership with the Region 1 Medical Center, Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, Conrado F. Estrella Trauma and Medical Center, Pangasinan Provincial Hospital, local government of Anda and barangay officials and Day Care officials of Namagbagan.
“A healthy smile is not just aesthetically pleasing, but it is also essential for eating, breathing and speaking,” Sydiongco said as she emphasized the importance of good oral health in overall well-being of a person. (DOH1)
Infanta, Burgos get BHS packages from DOH
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region turned over five (5) sets of Barangay Health Station (BHS) packages in Western Pangasinan during a ceremony held at the Children’s Park and Activity Center in Alaminos City, Pangasinan on February 21, 2025.
Among the recipient barangay health stations were Cato, Nangalisan, Nayom and Potol in Infanta town while one (1) set of BHS package was delivered to Sapa Grande in Burgos town. Regional Director Paula Sydiongco said that the BHS packages will improve and strengthen the health services of primary care units in the communities.
One set of BHS package consists of a dressing cart, two minor surgical set, mechanical bed, two spine board, two EENT diagnostic set, weighing scale with BMI calculator, weighing scale for infant, eight fetal doppler and examining table, medicine cabinet, two instrument cabinet; five nursing kit (composed of digital BP apparatus with heavy duty stethoscope, non-contact thermometer with battery, nebulizer, blood glucose meter with strip and pulse oximeter); tabletop sterilizer, and generating set 10kva.
The BHS packages were funded through the 2024 Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) and were made possible through the initiative of Pangasinan’s 1st Congressional District Representative Arthur F. Celeste. (DOH1)
