FOR EFFECTIVE QUICK RESPONSE

THE Dagupan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) advised residents to first call its emergency numbers:  09684449598 / 0755400363, to report any emergency or fire incident before posting live updates on social media.

This advisory was issued during an executive meeting attended by local officials, where CDRRMO Chief Ronald De Guzman emphasized the importance of quick response by contacting emergency services first for verification.

He said posting on social media first without reporting and verifying the incident can worsen fire situations as it delays necessary responses from emergency teams.

Alongside this initiative, the office is also launching the “FIRE ALAM” campaign, which includes the “HANDA KA BA PROGRAM” aimed at increasing residents’ knowledge and awareness of disaster preparedness.

The “HANDA KA BA PROGRAM” features training sessions on actions to take before, during, and after disasters. De Guzman also noted that the program will include the provision of rescue vehicles and early warning devices to enhance response capabilities during calamities.

He urged active participation from barangay officials in conducting disaster preparedness training and lectures within their communities to ensure comprehensive readiness for emergency situations. (Ahikam Pasion)
