ADDRESING THE ‘WATER WORLD’ PROBLEM
SECOND District Representative Mark Cojuangco speaks to residents of Sitio Aplaya, Barangay Pangapisan North in Lingayen — a community that has been branded as “water world” for 24 years due to persistent flooding — to explain the P23-million floodgate project intended to solve their longstanding problem. “Sixty percent is already finished. So, within the year, (by) March or April, it will be finished. There’s a second pump on standby, just in case the rain is too heavy,” he told them. About 1,400 families will benefit from the project that includes a floodgate to block water from the Lingayen Gulf during high tide and machine-operated pumps to remove accumulated water during the rainy season or storm surges.
