Family hopeful of finding missing 17-year-old boy

 THE family of a 17-year-old boy from Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao who went missing a month ago is not losing hope that their kin is still alive and will soon return home.

The mother of the missing John Lloyd de Vera believes her son was abducted by unidentified men as shown in a CCTV footage in a convenience store at dawn of November 23. However, the Calasiao Police theorized that De Vera might only be in hiding because of his involvement in cases of vehicle theft and is now doing everything to locate him. (Mathew Pacheco)

Owners advised to protect pets from firecracker noise

THE Department of Health-Center for Health Development reminded the public that firecrackers are not only harmful to human beings but also to pets, particularly dogs and cats which are usually sensitive to and could get stressed by loud noise.

As such, owners are advised to protect their pets and secure them indoors on New Year’s Eve. Further, revelers are encouraged to instead use other less harmful noisemakers such as horns.  (Rona Racca)

Binmaley mayor debunks opponent’s accusation 

BINMALEY Mayor Pedro Merrera III debunked charges of corruption thrown at him by Vice Mayor Simplicio Rosario, asserting that no such charges have been filed against him during his term in office.

In an interview with IFM Dagupan, Merrera instead brought out documents that implicated Rosario in an alleged illegal release of funds from the municipal coffers. The two are battling for the mayor’s seat in the 2025 elections. (Jam Victorio)

Pangasinan police on full alert until New Year celebration

THE Pangasinan police is in full alert during the current holidays, with no uniformed officer allowed to take a leave during this period, according two P/Colonel Rolly Capoquian, police provincial director.

He said this is part of ‘Oplan Ligtas Kapaskuhan’, intended to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of the Yuletide season in the province, and to deter crimes such as thefts, hold-ups, and home break-ins. Provincial borders are also under 24/7 watch. (Jam Victorio)

Trader to file raps vs. over-bearing government employee 

A businesswoman of Calasiao complained against a personnel of the town’s Municipal Assessor’s Office who allegedly humiliated and shouted at her when she inquired about the location of the property of her close relative.

She was promptly attended to but when she made further inquiries, an employee of that office shouted at her, an incident that caught the attention of other employees at the Calasiao Municial Hall. Although she and the employee calmly talked things out after the incident, the businesswoman is still determined to file a formal complaint with a proper body and let it decide on the case.

Pangasinan police launches Oplan Sita

POLICE Colonel Rollyfer Capoquioan, police provincial director of Pangasinan, has directed municipal and city police chiefs to implement Oplan Sita, wherein drivers are checked to ensure that they are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He also reminded drivers of two-wheel vehicles, including tricycles, to always wear reflectorized vests when traveling on roads at night. (Mathew Pacheco)

Crackdown on roaring motorcycles sought

THE barangay council of Ariston Este in Asingan warned that it will soon impound roaring and noisy motorcycles that pass through its area as provided for in a barangay ordinance.

It said it would give time for motorcycle owners to detach mufflers from their units before making apprehensions, after which those caught will be fined P1,000 each.

Commuters complain of overcharging colorum tricycles in Calasiao

THE Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) in Calasiao received complaints that some tricycle drivers operating in the town are overcharging passengers, asking for more than double the regular minimum fare.

The POSO discovered that drivers of colorum tricycles, or those with no permit to operate, are the ones overcharging. (Mathew Pacheco)

Pantals unfinished drainage canal earns residents’ ire

RESIDENTS of Barangay Pantal in Dagupan City are complaining about the stench emanating from an unfinished drainage canal.

They told IFM Dagupan that they had long been suffering from the nauseating odor coming out of the drainage canal and asked barangay officials to address the problem by completing the structure. The project, located along the road, is also a bane to both pedestrians and motorists. (Rena Racca)
