FOR SCHOLARS IN 2^ND DISTRICT

SECOND District Rep. Mark Cojuangco distributed a total of P5.84 million in educational assistance to 1,168 deserving students from across his district in a ceremony held at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen on November 28.

The students, representing the municipalities of Aguilar (38), Basista (283), Binmaley (124), Bugallon (55), Labrador (59), Lingayen (509), Mangatarem (54), and Urbiztondo (46), each received P5,000 in educational aid.

The total educational fund was P15 million, but the remaining portion had already been distributed in earlier payouts earlier in the year. This latest distribution marks the final payout for 2024, the congressman explained.

In his speech, Cojuangco underscored the importance of government funding for education, noting that the financial assistance was sourced from the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), which had undergone extensive deliberation in Congress.

He emphasized that these funds were drawn from the taxes of all Filipinos, and it was his responsibility to ensure they were allocated to programs that directly benefit the people, particularly students, who represent the country’s future.

“This is not money from Mark Cojuangco. This is money from the people, and we have decided to spend it in this way—to support you, the future of our nation,” Cojuangco told the students. He also reiterated his commitment to continue advocating for more educational aid and similar programs, noting that the 2025 GAA had already been passed, ensuring the continuation of such initiatives.

The congressman also highlighted the need to invest not only in education but also in infrastructure development to strengthen the economy and create more job opportunities for the youth. He emphasized that infrastructure improvements were vital for attracting businesses and industries to the district, ultimately driving sustainable economic growth and job creation. (Eva Visperas)
