THE observance of Undas this year was largely peaceful throughout the Ilocos Region, with no significant incidents reported, according to P/BGen. Lou Evangelista, regional director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1).

During the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony, Evangelista credited this success to the comprehensive deployment and mobilization of police personnel and force multipliers, increased police visibility, effective traffic management, and prompt emergency response measures.

PRO1 was placed on full alert status throughout the long weekend to implement its security plan as families visited cemeteries and memorial parks as well as leisure spots.

“I sincerely thank each and every one of you who played a critical role in ensuring a safe and peaceful observance of Undas. The dedication shown by our personnel across the region allowed our communities to honor their loved ones in peace,” he said.

He also acknowledged the support from force multipliers, local government units, barangay officials, volunteers, and community members. (Eva Visperas)
