Typhoons hamper children’s educational development

TEACHERS have expressed fear that the series of on-site class suspensions prompted by the onslaught of typhoons will significantly slow down the educational development of students.

Several educators told IFM Radio Dagupan that students absorb less in doing modular learning in their homes than inside the classroom where they are constantly guided by teachers. They said that to offset this problem, the Department of Education is set to launch a new program giving schools more flexibility to hold make-up classes for learners grounded in their homes due to natural hazards.
