DSWD assures enough relief goods for typhoon victims
THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office assured there is enough food packs on stockpile for distribution to people affected by the recent series of three typhoons — Kristine, Leon, and Marce.
DSWD said 68,357 family food packs and 16,718 non-food items were propositioned in 19 warehouses across Region 1, and the agency’s central office is ready to send more if needed. Already distributed after Typhoon Kristine were 26,000 family food packs, 348 non-food items, and 866 liters of bottled drinking water. (Rona Racca)

THE Lingayen local government inaugurated its newly built columbarium located in Barangay Maniboc just before the observance of Undas this year.

NCC holds 2024 Gawad Parangal in Dagupan
THE National Nutrition Council gave awards to local government units, entities and individuals during the 2024 Gawad Parangal in Dagupan City last week.
Among the awards given were for the Nutrition Champions, the 3rd Green Banner Seal of Compliance, Green Banner Seal for participating municipalities and cities, outstanding local Nutrition Focal Points, and local governments with consistent malnutrition reduction, F1K Adopters, and members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team. 2 drunk motorcycle riders hurt
TWO youth under the influence of liquor were hurt when the motorcycle they were riding crashed after it run over a big stone while they were negotiating the road in Barangay San Miguel, Natividad.

Quibaol road dike seen to ease traffic to and from Bugallon
THE traffic gridlock along the Baay Road in Lingayen has eased a little with the opening of one lane of the barangay road dike in Quibaol by the 2nd engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The Baay Road has been congested as it became an alternate road to and from Bugallon after the temporary closure of a bridge linking Lingayen and Bugallon for reconstruction and repair. (Jam Victorio)

Western Pangasinan beaches swarmed by tourists during Undas
BEACHES in western Pangasinan reached almost maximum capacity due to the influx of tourists during the long weekend holiday from October 31 to November 3 for the observance of Undas.
Among the popular destinations were the Olanen, Surip, Tubong beaches and Little Boracay and Polipol Island in Bani, and the Pantal Beach and Bolinao Falls in Bolinao. (Joana de Vera)

Pangasinenses flock cemeteries despite floods
THOUSANDS of people visited the tombs of their dead at various cemeteries in Pangasinan on All Saints’ and Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2 despite flooding in some areas.
An estimated 5,000 people visited the Calasiao Public Cemetery and 1,000 at the town’s Roman Catholicism Cemetery, also in Calasiao. Some 11,000 people visited the Dagupan Roman Catholic Cemetery despite the fact that some parts were still submerged in floodwater.
In Dagupan, some people shelled out a few pesos to boys whom they asked to place and light candles at the flooded tombs for them, while others rented rubber boots for P30. (Mathew Pacheco/Joana de Vera)
