Manaoag’s sets up water level monitoring system

By November 25, 2024Inside News

A new rainfall and water level monitoring equipment procured and installed by the Manaoag local government on November 15 was immediately put to the test during Typhoon Pepito last week.

Carlito Hernandez, Manaoag municipal disaster risk reduction and management (MDRRM) officer, said the equipment monitored the rise of water at the Aloragat River in Barangay Cabanbanan, with its instruments attached to the Nalsian-Cabanbanan Bridge.

Providing real-time data on rainfall and water level, the system will also be installed in the town’s other rivers, streams, and waterways.

With the data obtained, the MDRRM office can issue more accurate and faster warning signals to residents for impending floods.

Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario said the data from the equipment will also be beneficial for long-time planning, such as in flood control measures and environmental management.

MDRRM personnel will undergo training on the system’s use. (Jamella G. Samano/Intern)
