2025 budget absorbs Supplemental Budget 2 items
FUNDING for items under the more than P500 million Supplemental Budget 2 that the majority bloc in the Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod refused to approve will be included in the proposed 2025 annual budget for the city.
With its inclusion in next year’s spending plan, the 2025 annual appropriation could increase to more than P1.6 billion from the approved P1.13 billion 2024 budget.
The inclusion comes after the September 20, 2024 deadline set by the executive department for the passage of Supplemental Budget No. 2 lapsed, according to Councilor and Minority Floor Leader Michael Fernandez in his privilege speech during the October 1 session.
However, there are also fears that next year’s proposed budget will be deliberately delayed by the majority because 2025 is an election year. A delay will force the city government to subsist on a limited re-enacted budget again.
To be included in the 2025 annual budget are appropriations for the purchase of a P6.5 million brand new modern fire truck, dump trucks and equipment for the Waste Management Division, construction of school buildings, flood mitigation and improvement of drainage in different barangays, fencing and furniture of the newly-built Super Family Health Center, purchase of a lot for a new Super Family Health Center in Malued, among others.
