Manaoag declared 100% drug-cleared
THE entire town of Manaoag, which has 26 barangays, was declared “drug-cleared” by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program, led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 1.
The last two barangays evaluated, Cabanbanan and Pao, were granted drug-free status on August 22 in a ceremony held in Solsona, Ilocos Norte.
Under the leadership of Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario, the town actively implemented the anti-drug campaign in collaboration with the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, the Manaoag Police, and local government authorities.
Part of the campaign is the establishment of a reformation center, the Balay Silangan, where drug users undergo rehabilitation and prepare for reintegration into the community.
“We believe that every transformed life contributes to a safer and healthier Manaoag,” Rosario said. (Ahikam Pasion)
