Alaminos activates state-of-the-art emergency center
THE Alaminos City government inaugurated on September 10 its new City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) building with a command center that will speed up response time to emergency calls made through the 911 hotline.
“Long contact numbers are often not saved, and in moments of panic, people may struggle to find the number quickly. This system is revolutionary because it ensures that every citizen, including children, can easily remember and use it when needed,” Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste said.
By opening a local command center and activating the hotline linked to the national system powered by the Next Generation Advanced (NGA) 911 technology, the Alaminos CDRRMO will be able to more efficiently track calls and deploy emergency response teams for crimes, fires, and ambulance services.
“We are encouraging LGUs (local government units) to step up because we need this kind of technology since we know we experience a lot of disasters,” said Atty. Juan Victor Llamas, DILG undersecretary for external, legal, and legislative affairs.
The Department of Interior and Local Government provides support for the adoption of the advanced 911 system, including training, technical, and financial support.
Robert Andrew Llaguno, country head manager of NGA 911 Philippines, said for now, users of SMART and PLDT in Alaminos City can be directly connected to the local 911 system while other networks will be directed to the national center in Manila. (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA/JSZ)
