Urdaneta VM mum on cousin’s suspension
URDANETA Vice Mayor Jimmy Parayno declined to comment on the suspension of the city’s mayor, his cousin, Julio “Rammy” Parayno, saying legal actions will be undertaken after the 90-day suspension period.
In an interview on August 19, the acting mayor assured that the city government’s services would not be affected by the current situation as he called on their supporters to wait out the completion of the penalty time.
Supporters of the mayor flocked to the city hall Monday to express support during the regular flag-raising ceremony.
Among those who gathered were barangay officials, health workers, security personnel, senior citizens, youth, non-government organizations, and other sectoral groups.
The mayor has been placed on a 90-day preventive suspension, by Governor Ramon Guico III on August 8, while the investigation is ongoing for a complaint citing a violation of Republic Act 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business Law.
Parayno allegedly refused to issue a business permit to a poultry farm in 2021, despite the company having completed all necessary documents. (Ahikam Pasion)
