THE new Super Family Health Center (SFHC) in Barangay Bolosan, Dagupan City was inaugurated on August 3 by Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco, Mayor Belen Fernandez, and philanthropist Ashok Vasandani who donated the needed road right of way to the facility.

Built through a P15-million fund from the DOH, it is the biggest Super Family Health Center in Region 1 with facilities for ultrasound, ECG, x-ray, birthing, minor surgery, TB DOTS, laboratory and pharmacy, among others.

Sydiongco turned over additional medical equipment during the inauguration.

She said another SFHC is set to be built in Barangay Malued to serve residents of the southern barangays in Dagupan.

SFHC started operations on August 5 with only a temporary bamboo fence built by volunteers from among residents of surrounding areas.

Mayor Fernandez said funds for a concrete fence and site development of the area by the city government remain pending before the city council, controlled by a majority opposition, under a supplemental budget proposal she submitted in 2022.

Another pending supplemental budget proposal will cover air-conditioning and other facilities for the health center.

City Health Officer Ophelia Rivera said the SFHC benefits residents of the eastern barangays of Dagupan City, including Bolosan, Tambac, Salisay, Mamalingling, Mangin and Tebeng. (Leonardo Micua
