Mayor Quiambao reports achievements, future plans in SOMA

MAYOR Niña Jose-Quiambao emphasized the importance of courage and initiative which enabled her administration to achieve significant progress in her State of the Municipality Address on July 11 at the Bayambang Events Center where she highlighted several key projects and future plans.

Mayor Quiambao shared the good news:

  1. Bayambang secured a P20-million grant from the Department of Agriculture, including construction of a cold storage facility with a 20,000-bag capacity in Barangay Nalsian Norte will begin before the end of 2024.
  2. The Philippine Rural Development Project and the World Bank will provide a P250-million grant for a cold storage facility in Barangay Amancosiling Sur, capable of storing up to 120,000 bags of onions.
  3. Construction of a new pumping station projected to benefit 22 farming barangays.
  4. Implementation of the Pantol-to-San Gabriel 2nd Farm-to-Market Road project, with phase I already completed, “to improve connectivity between Pangasinan and Tarlac, bridging gaps in the economic and agriculture sectors.”
  5. Opening of he Bayambang Polytechnic College, assisting over 800 students and secured a Certificate of Program Compliance in BS Agribusiness and BS Entrepreneurship, and a four-storey, 32-classroom Academic Building will be constructed in Barangay Zone 7. (Another P10.4 million  donation by Mayor Quiambao’s family for student tuition fees).
  6. The LGU Ville socialized housing project, in partnership with PAG-IBIG, is ready for occupancy.
  7. Inauguration of the Julius K. Quiambao Medical and Wellness Center on September 2024
  8. Plans for a P420-million broiler project farm in partnership with Charoen Pokphand, Thailand. They will also build a P600-million hatchery in 2025.
  9. Preparations for a 400-megawatt solar farm.
  10. A groundbreaking ceremony for the 67-hectare Bayambang Metro site, and the Blue Sky Mini Theme Park will be inaugurated in November to increase tourism and employment opportunities.

In highlighting the role of courage and initiative in achieving these accomplishments, she urged her constituents to be proactive in helping others and improve their community. “Do it with all your heart, because what you are doing may just be the very thing that another person needs to keep going,” she said.

“None of us is born with courage. It is something that we need to develop within ourselves every day. As the mother of this town, I need to be courageous and firm in each decision that I make. It takes courage to have initiative, which is exactly what we need to implement projects for the betterment of our municipality,” she added. (Eva Visperas)
