Erfe-Mejia pleads ‘not guilty’ to charge of “disrupting peaceful meeting”

DAGUPAN City opposition Councilor Redford Christian Erfe-Mejia has entered the plea of not guilty to the charge of violation of Article 31 of the Revised Penal Code before Presiding Judge Jennifer Lumanlan-Cabatbat of Branch 3 of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Dagupan City last June 21, 2024.

Criminal Case No. 57713-24 for Prohibition, Interruption of Peaceful Meetings under Article 131 of the RPC, was filed against Erfe-Mejia by his fellow councilors, Michael Fernandez and Jeslito Seen. Both witnessed Erfe-Mejia enter a ‘not guilty’ plea.

Priorly, Erfe-Mejia was indicted in a resolution of Acting City Prosecutor for Dagupan City Maychelle Ablog-Sergio  on February 19, 2014 in Vigan, City.

The complaint of Fernandez and Seen that on September 26, 2024, stemmed from the ruckus created by Erfe-Mejia when he barged in a private meeting of the councilors in the minority at the conference room of the city mayor after the passage of the 2023 annual budget, grabbed a chair and angrily slammed it on the floor.

Fernandez said this is separate from Criminal Case No. 57709-24 filed by against Redford Christian Erfe-Mejia, Alipio Serafin Fernandez and Victoria Czarina Lim-Acosta for Disturbance of Proceeding under Article 144 of the RPC at the sala of President Judge Dennis Ferrer of Branch 2 of the Municipal Trial Court in Dagupan City, filed by VM Bryan Kua, Councilors  Dennis Canto, Joshua Bugayong, Marcelino Fernandez, Michael Fernandez and Seen.
