Leptospirosis warning up in Dagupan

RESIDENTS of Dagupan City have been warned about a rise in leptospirosis cases during the rainy season particularly when flood occurs in low-lying areas.

Dagupan CDRRMO prepares for La Niña

THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is in the thick of preparation for the coming rainy days that will likely flood many low-lying areas in Dagupan.

Ronald de Guzman, DRRMO technical working group head, said preparations are being doubled on learning that the impact of La Niña phenomenon will be felt up to the last quarter of the year. To date, CDRRMO already strengthened coordination with the barangays for immediate response to residents isolated by floods. (Badz Agtalao)

National to Market Road Program up soon 

THE provincial government joins efforts for the adoption of the planned National Farm-to-Market Road after the end of the training of personnel on the localization of the national program.

In the three-day training program held in Lingayen, Department of Agriculture Regional Director Maria Ana Francisco underscored the program’s benefits particularly to  farmers because it will not only speed up the transport of products from the farms or fishponds to the market centers but assure the immediate receipt of payment by buyers to the farmers.  Low water level remains low rains 

DESPITE the sporadic rains nowadays in Dagupan and Pangasinan, the level of water of major rivers has not risen and remains the same.

Rolando de Guzman of CDRRMO cited the level of water of the Sinocalan-Pantal River that remains low despite intermittent rain showers but nonetheless brought relief to farmers who finally found reason to start planting after the long hot and dry moths. (Mathew Pacheco)

 Manaoag PNP ready to implement new traffic  ordinance 

THE Manaoag police is set to implement the final version of the newly approved Manaoag Traffic Ordinance following its recent approval by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario called on his constituents to expect improvement in the flow of traffic once the new traffic ordinance is in place. He said the new traffic ordinance was the result of a series of meetings and coordination with the townspeople of Manaoag to improve traffic flow on account of the growing number of tourists and pilgrims flocking the town. DSWD ready to respond to needs of people impacted by La Niña 

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development has assured its readiness to respond to the needs of the people who will be affected by the La Nina phenomenon. It gave the assurance after its disaster response management group conducted a disaster preparedness meeting recently

According to DSWD, its nine field warehouses in Pangasinan have  enough stocks  of food and other items that can be deployed immediately to disaster-stricken areas. (Joana de Vera)

P1 increase in rice price noted

RICE retailers confirmed a P1 in the price of rice sold in the public markets of Dagupan City last week. The well-milled rice was sold from P49 to P50 per kilo from last week’s P48 to P49 per kilo.

However, many consumers are reportedly buying the cheaper regularly-milled rice sold at less than P48 per kilo, and are hoping that NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan will deliver on her promise that the price of rice will drop sharply by September. (Rona  Racca)

99 Covid-19 cases in region reported 

THE Department of Health-Center for Health Development I reported 99 new cases of COVID-19 in the region 1 over the period May 26 to June 1, 2024 (averaging 13 cases daily), compare to 107 cases recorded from May 19 to 25, 2024.

The DOH-CHD 1 reminded the public to again observe minimum health protocols such as the wearing of face mask, frequent washing of hands with water or alcohol, avoid crowded places and prefer to stay in well-ventilated rooms. In Dagupan, the city government is implementing the “No Face Mask, No Entry” policy at the city hall, requiring all employees to wear masks in their work places. (Rona Racca)

27 barangays in Dagupan still drug-affected 

 ONLY four of the 31 barangays of Dagupan City are drug-cleared to date: Barangay 1, Tebeng, Mamalingling and Pogo Grande.

The declaration of the 27 barangays as drug-cleared is the chief focus of the Dagupan City police before the end of 2024. (Rona Racca)
