San Fabian logs 2 deaths from rabies infection

By May 6, 2024Inside News

TWO persons in San Fabian died from rabies due to dog bites.

Municipal Agriculture Officer Johnny Jugo Paraan, in an interview, said the victims were from Barangays Gumot and Bolaoen.

Paraan said the victims’ families failed to report the two deaths until the local officials conducted an investigation because the victims reportedly withheld the fact that they were bitten until the symptoms began to manifest.

Besides not receiving anti-rabies vaccines, he said the victims only washed the injured parts, and rubbed papaya fruit on the wounds in the local belief that its’s the cure for dog bites.

Paraan urged all residents to report incidents of dog bites immediately adding that the supply of anti-rabies vaccines in town is sufficient.

The MAO is conducting regular vaccinations, distributing free vitamins and providing deworming services. (Ahikam Pasion)
