El Niño lowers rivers’ water level in Pangasinan

DESPITE isolated thunderstorms during afternoons and early evenings in various parts in the province, the level of water in rivers of Pangasinan continues to dip due to the current heat wave spurred by the El Niño phenomenon.

The Agno River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (ARBFFWC), said the level of water of the Agno, Sinucalan and Cayanga Rivers, all of which are draining into Pangasinan, are now much lower than before the advent of El Niño.  ARBFFWC Senior Weather Specialist Greg de Vera II, however, said despite the decreased level of water of the upstream portions of these rivers, their downstream portions are not yet drying out. Egg oversupply in Pangasinan continues

THE continuous oversupply of eggs could be either bane or boon to the province of Pangasinan.

Bane because of the cheaper cost of eggs in the market prevent producers to recover the huge costs they spent for their poultry farms operations, i.e., high cost of feeds and maintenance; a boon because consumers are able to buy eggs priced from P10 per piece and below.

The Samahan ng Industrya ng Agrikultura said the excessive heat of summer, poultry farms are laying smaller eggs, thus are priced cheaper than the bigger ones that were produced months back. (Mathew Pacheco)
