Eggs, P3 per piece in Dagupan

THE price of eggs in some public markets in Pangasinan dropped to just P3 per piece, according to a price monitoring by IFM Radio Dagupan. At only P3 to P3.50 per piece, eggs were sold fast at the Mangaldan Public Market.

Egg vendors said the reason for the egg price drop is the existence of big supply of eggs owing to over-production of the commodity at this time of the year. Meanwhile the Samahan ng Industriya ng Agrikultura admitted that many businesses are losing because the price of eggs dropped during the past few days. SINAG Founding Chairman Rosendo So said not only traders of eggs were hurt by the low price of eggs but also the poultry raisers who are buying feeds at prohibitive prices, aside from bearing with high production costs. Demand for bangus slows down

THERE’S lack in the sale of bangus in public markets of Dagupan nowadays. Bangus growers confirmed they are worried because while milkfish sells at P120 per kilo from its previous price of P150 per kilo, it is a surprise however why a few consumers are buying the commodity.

Producers assure enough supply of milkfish but are afraid that the excessive heat of summer could retard the growth of the fish that they are raising in fishponds, cages and pens. Fortunately, no fish kill was reported in any of the bangus producing areas of Dagupan despite the high heat wave in the city. (Rona Racca)

Frequent power interruption traced to low supply-Cenpelco

THE frequent interruptions in areas under the coverage of the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) was mainly because of the high demand of electricity by consumers over a certain period, which the power firm cannot supply.

Cenpelco General Manager Rodrigo Corpuz revealed that due to excessive heat of summer, consumers switched on their air-conditioners and other cooling system at the same time, whose total power requirements cannot be met by the existing supply available. This results in automatic switch off of circuit breakers but power return as soon as supply stabilizes, said Corpuz who responded to numerous complaints of frequent brownouts. (Badz Agtalao)
