Poor families: P2 reduction in rice price not enough

THE price of rice in public market of Calasiao is lower by two pesos per kilo owing to ample supply brought about by the just recent harvest of second crop rice.

Regular-milled rice was being sold for P50 per kilo and well-milled rice at P54 per kilo. But households say the prevailing price ceiling for rice is still considered high. To this, the Department of Agriculture regional office said the price of rice can still be expected to drop because of higher supply in all markets. (Mathew Pacheco)

Students lament bigger  homework in distance learning

SOME students in Pangasinan complain about being overburdened by the amount of homework assigned by teachers ever since face-to-face classes were suspended owing to the excessive heat index prevailing during summer. They said their homework almost doubled since F2F was suspended and lamented that it’s a policy adopted by school authorities for learners to make up for lost opportunities because of suspension of F2F.

They said that while F2F classes were suspended because of the excessive heat in their classrooms, they, too, cannot study their modules at home because the temperatures in their homes are not any better than their classrooms. (Mathew Pacheco)
