Fire hits Bayambang Public Market; 46 stalls damaged
A FIRE traced to faulty electrical wiring razed 46 stalls in the Bayambang Public Market and part of a residential area near Royal Mall in Bayambang on the night of May 3.
Fire Officer 3 Michael Caragan of the BFP-Bayambang, said the fire broke out at 11:43 p.m. and raged on till 4:00 a.m. the following day.
The fire spread rapidly due to the plastic tents used as stall extensions, including some flammable items in the area.
The blaze was declared out at 4:00 a.m. by the town’s firefighters and adjacent towns and cities. No one was hurt in the blaze.
FO3 Caragan said that based on investigation, it was the octopus s connection of electrical cables that led to overloading and short circuiting that caused the fire.
Bayambang Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao distributed P25,000 to each the affected vendors with totally damaged stalls and P10,000 each one to owners of partially damaged stalls. (Kim Gealogo)
