IN observance of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, the Department of Health-Center for Health Development 1 (DOH-CHD-1) is providing complimentary cervical cancer screenings throughout the month of May at key hospitals in Region 1.

Women are urged to undergo these screenings on May 24 at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

“Early detection is paramount,” emphasized Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco, DOH-CHD-1 regional director. “Cervical cancer is highly treatable when detected in its early stages.”

Globally, cervical cancer is the fourth most prevalent cancer among women, according to the World Health Organization in the Philippines, it is the third most common cancer following breast and colorectal cancers.

DOH-CHD-1’s free screenings seeks to provide early detection services and enable patients to combat escalating burden of cervical cancer and empower women to prioritize their health. (Ahikam Pasion)
