Overcrowding in bus terminals starts, more departures set
BUS operators in the Dagupan City coped with the overcrowding in their terminals by shortening buses’ departure from the usual one hour to 10-minutes intervals or less depending on volume of passengers arriving in their terminals.
Martin Nges O, terminal master of Victory Liner Bus in Dagupan City, said passenger volume was highest Monday evening until Wednesday.
“Karamihan sa mga pasahero ay mga estudyante at trabahador na nagsisiuwian para sa Semana Santa”, he said.
Nges O and other terminal masters assured passengers that their drivers are rested and have enough sleep, while spare drivers are on stand-by to substitute tired drivers; and buses, undergo maintenance check every after trip.
He said he expects the same overcrowding situation the whole summer.
Nges-O said most of the passengers boarding at the Dagupan City terminal go to and from Alaminos City.
“Pinakamarami doon kasi ang salubungan ng mga pasaherong papunta naman ng Sta. Cruz Zambales”, he said.
Nges O urged passengers to book their tickets online to avoid the hassle of lining to secure a bus seat.
Meanwhile, Nges O reminded the public that bus security guards are under instruction to search passengers’ bags for flammable and sharp materials that are not allowed inside the buses.
Pets, small to medium sizes, are allowed to board, on condition that diapers are worn and are caged. While two pets are allowed, there are only specific times when they can be boarded.
Chickens are only allowed passage if properly documented. (Ahikam Pasion)
