THE Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital (DDVMH) has joined the green wave and signed a 15-year deal with EEI Power Corporation for a 145.2-kilowatt solar rooftop grid-tied system at the hospital’s annex.

According to Hospital and Medical Director Vivencio Villaflor III, this move, aligned with the Department of Energy’s push for sustainability, promises cost savings and a cleaner, greener future for the hospital.

“This venture represents a major step toward our contribution to energy sustainability — our small contribution in reducing our carbon footprint,” Villaflor stated during the contract signing held on Wednesday at the DDVMH Conservatory in Dagupan City.

Meanwhile, Salvador Salire Jr., director/general manager and chief energy management officer of EEI Power Corp., said the installation of the solar panel for Phase I begins this month, February 2024 and is expected to be completed by April 2024.

The system sill simply charge DDVMH based on its monthly consumption at a fixed rate of  P6.28 per kilowatt hour (kWh).

Moreover, DDVMH Chief Operating Officer Richard Lirio said the hospital is a member of “Healthcare Without Harm,” an organization that promotes projects, i.e., use of solar panels or alternative energy, that don’t harm the environment.

The maintenance of the asset will be shouldered by EEI Power Corp., during the contract period.

It will transfer the asset to DDVMH in the 16th year at a low cost. (PIA Pangasinan/JCDR)
