Pangasinan enters drought period—PAGASA 

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration  revealed that the province has begun reeling under the prolonged period of  low rainfall.  PAGASA Chief Meteorologist Jose Estrada Jr. based in Dagupan  said this was the national assessment of the PAGASA central office.

Estrada said that the dry condition in Pangasinan started in November last year and continued till December when the province  experienced below normal rainfall. He believes drought may last up to the end of March this year. (John Caranto).

Mangaldan cop chief to be quizzed by SB on crimes 

THE chief of police of Mangaldan, P/Lt. Colonel Roldan Cabatan, was invited by the Sangguniang Bayan to give an update the current state of peace and order of the town

Councilor Aldrin Soriano, SB presiding protempore, said in view of the successive violent incidents in Mangaldan recently, the SB wanted to hear from Lt. Colonel Cabatan if the town is still a peaceful place to live in.

Three violent incidents that happened in the town recently include the slaying of Barangay Captain Tonette Morillo of Poblacion, of a kagawad of Barangay Guilig and of a housewife who was brutally killed by her former live-in partner. Soriano said the SB may craft an ordinance that can help strengthen the local police increase its visibility, add more firepower to it, and other appropriate measures to maintain the peace and curb criminality. Housewife wanted in Batanes arrested in Dasol

A housewife wanted for qualified theft in Basco, Batanes was arrested while she was securing police clearance from th Dasol Police Station. The suspect was identified as Imelda Gabisan, a resident of Burgos town.

Gabisan is wanted in Batanes with no bail bond recommended for her temporary liberty through the National Police Clearance System said P/Staff Sergeant Ricky Mamaril. Though surprised, Gabisan did not deny that she is wanted for qualified theft in Batanes. P/Staff Sergeant Mamaril said the Dasol Police is now coordinating with the police in Basco, Batanes for Gabisan’s transfer of custody.  (Badz Agtalao)
