Manibela continues to oppose PUV consolidation
TRANSPORT group Manibela vowed to continue its protest action against the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Consolidation despite government’s announcement that jeepneys that failed to consolidate get a reprieve for another 30 days.
In a talk with IFM Radio Dagupan, Manibela president Mar Balbuena said their protest action against PUV consolidation will nevertheless continue because he expects the government to eventually grant their demands. Meanwhile, Balbuena confirmed reports of harassment and intimidation on some of their members in various places to pressure them to agree to PUV consolidation. (John Caranto)

Unsold fruits sold from 5-10 percent lower
UNSOLD imported round fruits before New Year’s Eve are still being sold in the markets in Dagupan at five to 10 percent lower than their usual prices. While people rushed to buy round fruits on New Year’s Eve as these symbolize wealth, vendors failed to sell all.
In order to at recover their capital, vendors started selling their stuffs at a discount.
Vendors said the fruits will be back to their usual prices as soon as new batch of imported fresh fruits arrive.

Eight percent of 1,271 barangays still drug-affected
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) appealed for public cooperation in various barangays to help make their communities finally drug-free. The appeal was made by PDEA Provincial Director Richie Camacho as he revealed that to date, 92 percent or 1,157 barangays of Pangasinan are already drug-free.
He remains positive that although the requirement for any drug-affected barangay to become drug-free is long and tedious, they can still submit all the requirements needed for the validation process.

Drug-dealer arrested in Binalonan
A 19-year-old drug dealer was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Binalonan Police in Barangay Sumabnit. The suspect was identified as John Mark Manangan, a resident of Urdaneta City but temporarily residing in Binalonan.
The operation led to the seizure of more or less one gram of suspected shabu worth P6,680 from his possession. Manangan is considered a street level pusher of illegal drugs in Binalonan.

Lingayen drug pusher arrested
UP to four sachets of suspected shabu with a total weight of 2.36 grams valued at P16,000 were seized by the Lingayen Police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Quibaol.
The illegal drugs were seized from one Terrence Sison, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, who was classified by the police as a street level pusher.
Sison is now facing a case of violation for Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1991.

Speeding car catches fire in Sta. Barbara
A speeding car with five persons on board caught fire while negotiating the highway in Sta. Barbara. The occupants of the car were on their way to Marikina City after visiting their cousins in Binmaley town when the incident happened.
A video footage presented to IFM Dagupan showed the car that caught fire was at full speed when it overtook another car in front The video showed that its exhaust pipe first caught fire before the whole vehicle was burned. The five occupants were able to get out of the burning vehicle fast. Local authorities immediately responded and doused the fire on the car.

Kalusugan at Kaligtasan for all in Dagupan
THE Dagupan City government continues to promote the recently-launched “Kalusugan at Kaligtasan For All” program initially conducted in barangays Caranglaan, Lucao, and Barangay 2 & 3.
The program that offers free vaccination against flu and pneumonia to all residents is being held in Barangays Mayombo and Bonuan Gueset. In all the communities visited senior citizens and immuno-compromise had first priorities. #
