DOH hospitals’ fast lane for firecracker-related injuries
WITH the recent launching of the Oplan Iwas Paputok by the Department of Health, fast lanes or express lanes in public hospitals have been opened firecracker-related injuries.
Dr. Rheuel Bobis, of the DOH Center for Health Development Region I (DOH-CHD 1) said the fast lane is part of their Ligtas Christmas para sa Healthy Pilipinas campaign to provide quick response to firecracker injuries and other holiday-related injuries.
To support it, more medical personnel have been deployed since the second week of December and will remain until the first week of January 2024 and government-run hospitals have been placed on Code White Alert.
At least one doctor will be on standby every shift in order to cater to patients being rushed to the fast lane.
So far, no firecracker-related injury has been recorded as of press time.
Bobis advised the families to implement first aid procedures in case of firecracker injuries by immediately washing the affected area with clean water, then patient should be rushed to the hospital regardless of the severity of injury for proper treatment. (Ahikam Pasion)
