UNAUTHORIZED MOVIE TICKETS’ SALE

DAGUPAN City Parent-Teacher Association Federated President Gerry Pradez protested the reported unauthorized sale of movie tickets to public school students in the city.

In an interview over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, Pradez cited three tickets being sold at P350 each. for movies ‘Sina Dasal,’ and ‘Maestra’ to the highs school students, and the ‘Frog Prince’ to grade school students.

Pradez, during the interview, said it was the Values and Filipino Departments that initiated the showing of the films to students and learners and the PTA was not notified of the intention to sell tickets.

Parents have both approached Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan and Pradez to complain against the selling of the tickets to the students.

Nalaman na lang na ongoing na ang pagbebenta ng tickets”, said Pradez.

While Pradez was told that viewing of the films is voluntary and not mandatory, he asked why the film viewing is being made a part of the children’s performance task for grading system.

He asserted that since not all public-school students can afford to pay the P350 tickets, as majority of students come from low-income families, it is unfair to those who fail to view the films to be given low grades.

Pradez said that they will seek an audience with Dr. Rowena Banzon, Dagupan City’s Schools Division Superintendent, as soon as she returns from her trip. (Ahikam Pasion)
