MBTF heads delegation on goodwill visit to Milpitas City
DAGUPAN City Mayor Belen Fernandez led a 16-man delegation on educational and goodwill visit to the United States, particularly Milpitas City in California, one of Dagupan City’s sister cities overseas from November 19 to 30.
While the mayor is in the U.S. for 12 days, Vice Mayor Bryan Kua is acting mayor while Councilor Librada Reyna-Macalanda is acting vice mayor and Sangguniang Panlungsod presiding officer.
In the delegation are City Superintendent Rowena Banzon, Education Program Supervisor Leizl Cansino and eight officials of the Manlingkor ya Kalangweran, all students from different public and private schools in Dagupan.
Before leaving for the U.S., Mayor Fernandez said the Dagupan delegation exchanged notes on educational and various concerns with their counterparts in Milpitas City.
During the administration of former Mayor Brian Lim, he was joined by city officials, members of civic groups in the city’s visit to Milpitas City.
The visits momentarily stopped during the pandemic from 2020 to 2022.
Mayor Fernandez said the Dagupan City officials expect to gain much from the experiences of Milpitas City officials in running the affairs of their city.
The sisterhood agreement between Dagupan and Milpitas cities started during the administration of then Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., which was continued during the succeeding administrations of his predecessors. (Leonardo Micua)
