THE Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution commending the Commission on Elections’ Central Office and Dagupan office for a job well-done in connection with the conduct of the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Authored by Councilor Alvin Coquia, the resolution cited the efforts of the Comelec to keep the candidates aware and informed of the laws and rules applicable to the BSKE.

The resolution, citing the government’s need to have orderly and peaceful elections, it acknowledged Comelec Dagupan’s issuance of guidelines for the information and guidance of the candidates and their supporters, including lawful campaign materials where they should be posted and others.

Comelec also provided hotline numbers for lodging complaints on illegal campaign materials and prohibited premature/illegal campaigning and other prohibited practices.

“Such demonstrative efforts displayed by Comelec Dagupan has earned appreciation from neighboring municipalities and cities and served as peaceful tips and guidelines in the election,” the resolution reads. (Leonardo Micua)
