2023 Dagupan City Fiesta to feature ‘Baratillo’, food strip
THE majority and minority blocs in the Sangguniang Panlungsod crossed party lines when they passed and approved an ordinance allowing the temporary closure of Galvan and Zamora Streets from November 15, 2023 to January 30, for the 2023 Dagupan City Fiesta.
This was confirmed by Councilor Marcelino Fernandez, sponsor of the Ordinance No. 0-0851 that authorized the closure of the two streets for the holding of the ‘Baratillo’ street bazaar and a food strip.
Fernandez, recently reelected as president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, was named as Hermano Mayor of the 2023 Dagupan City Fiesta by Mayor Belen Fernandez.
Ordinance No. 0-851 also empowers the city government through the fiesta executive committee to enter into contracts with any interested businessmen who may want to open shops in both Galvan and Zamora streets to spur economic activities and enlivening local tourism during the city fiesta.
Meanwhile, Councilor Dennis Canto asked participating contractors to maintain a wide space between shops in the middle of Galvan Street to make way for an ambulance in case of an emergency while Councilor Alvin Coquia interjected that shops must be made to maintain utmost cleanliness and sanitation.
