Usufruct signed for new Dagupan Fire Station site

A DEED of Usufruct Agreement for a 3,812 square meter lot at the former Perez Market site owned by the city government, was formally signed, for the construction of a modern Dagupan City Fire Station.

Mayor Belen Fernandez and Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, representing the Dagupan City government and Regional Director Chief Superintendent Leonida Rosales, BFP Assistant Regional Director Arthur Sawate, Provincial Fire Marshal Ronaldo Perez, and Dagupan City Fire Marshal Michael Escano representing the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) affixed their signatures, on the agreement following the flag-raising ceremony at the city plaza on October 23.

The arrangement was facilitated by the passage of Resolution No. 8113-2023 by the Sangguniang Panlungsod. It authorized Mayor Fernandez to execute the usufruct agreement with the BFP.

The new fire station will be a three-storey building with a total floor area of 689 square meters that will house all the fire trucks and modern firefighting equipment on the first floor, the second floor will be for BFP offices and third floor will serve as the sleeping quarters for on-duty firefighters.

The national office of the BFP has allocated P25 million for the construction of the new modern fire station, expected to be “the most advanced of its kind in Pangasinan.”

Mayor Fernandez emphasized that the establishment of this “state-of-the-art fire station is consistent with good governance practices, and will elevate the level of emergency assistance, rescue operations, and medical aid available in Dagupan City.”

BFP Regional Director Rosales pointed out that Dagupan, being the only independent component city in Region 1, “deserves a state-of-the-art fire station, in line with Republic Act No. 6975, which stipulates that each town and city in the Philippines must have its fire station.” (Leonardo Micua)
