Mangaldan hosts forum on rectifying birth certificate inaccuracies
IN observance of the 34th National Statistics Month, the Mangaldan local government conducted a symposium titled “Rectifying Inaccuracies in Birth Certificates: Resolving Marital Status Discrepancies.”
Aida Cera, the municipal civil registrar officer, emphasized the importance of registration accuracy, such as an individual’s place of registration matching their place of birth. Any discrepancies or errors may lead to transaction delays or denials. A petition can be filed with the local civil registrar where the birth certificate was registered to rectify the error, which includes completing the required forms and providing supporting documents.
“The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Birth Registration Assistance Program (PBRAP) application is still open and available for free. Mangaldan residents who still need to obtain their birth certificates and wish to apply can visit the MCRO on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to learn more about the said service,” Cera said during the event.
Melvin Callanta, the officer-in-charge (OIC) assistant principal of DNHS, expressed gratitude to the resource speakers of the symposium for sharing insights with their students. (PIA Dagupan/ JCDR)
