PAMBABASTOS SA AKIN…”

TENSION flared at Dagupan City Hall when Councilor Redford Erfe-Mejia barged into the mayor’s office to confront Councilor Michael Fernandez who was holding a meeting with Vice Mayor Bryan Kua in the presence of four other councilors belonging to minority bloc.

When Erfe-Meia started to rant, taunt and accused Fernandez of causing him embarrassment as majority leader over the unexpected passage of the 2023 annual budget by the minority bloc, Fernandez went to the police station to report Erfe-Mejia’s unruly conduct.

After Fernandez filed his complaint, three policemen were deployed to the city hall to maintain order in the building.

“Pambabastos sa akin ang pagpasa ng resolution at ordinance,” Erfe-Mejia reportedly told Fernandez and asked that they meet outside the office alone but the latter refused and that further led to a heated exchange.

The certification of the police report filed by Fernandez was signed by P/Master Sergeant Alban.

The altercation ended when Fernandez and his fellow councilors left Erfe-Mejia at the conference room to attend an activity of the mayor. (Leonardo Micua)
