 Pangasinan PNP sets up 150 police checkpoints for BSKE

 THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) has increased the number of checkpoints in the province from 100 to 150 during the campaign period and on Election Day for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

P/Capt. Renan de la Cruz, PPPO public information officer, said the checkpoints will strictly enforce the gun ban and check the movements of firearms as well as of private armed groups and lawless elements.

The Oplan Sita checkpoints can stop vehicles and conduct authorized and legal searches  suspected to be carrying firearms and persons wanted by the law.

De la Cruz enjoined the public to cooperate with policemen manning the checkpoints for everyone’s benefit.

COC filing all over Pangasinan, peaceful and orderly – PNP

THE filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) by aspirants for the October Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataang Elections (BSKE) that started on August 29 and ended on September 2, was peaceful and orderly, according to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO).

P/Capt. Renan de la Cruz, PPPO public information officer, told IFM Radio Dagupan, that there was no untoward incident in connection with the COC filing anywhere in any town and city in Pangasinan and no one was arrested for violating the gun ban.

He, however, said some gun holders voluntarily surrendered their licensed firearms to the police for safekeeping purposes during the duration of the election period.

He said, so far, no candidate has officially requested for police escort and even permit to carry firearm outside of residence.

PWD accused of raping five-year-old girl 

A person with disability, dumb man, was tagged as the principal suspect in the rape of a five-year-old girl just beside the municipal hall of Mapandan.

The suspect, who was already arrested and under the custody of the Mapandan Police, was caught by the mother of the victim attacking the girl.

Immediately after his arrest, both the victim and the suspect were brought to the hospital for medical check-up. The suspect was later lodged at the town’s police jail belying social media posts that the suspect, because of his physical disability, was set free.

A rape case was filed by the police against the suspect.

12 die from dengue, 4 towns, placed under PHO watchlist  

TWELVE out of 1,425 cases of dengue registered in Pangasinan since January this year to date have died. The latest fatality was an eight-year-old girl in Bugallon.

Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, said the number was lower by 32 percent over the 2,099 and five deaths registered for the same period last year.

Nevertheless, PHO placed Bugallon, Bayambang, Balungao, Umingan and San Carlos City under its watchlist due to their high incidence of dengue.

Three Calasiao sitios still under water

A WEEK after the end of the recent monsoon rains, residents in three sitios in Calasiao continued to be inconvenienced by one-to two feet of floodwater.

The level of water of the Marusay River, the body of water flowing into Calasiao from the adjacent Sinocalan River in Sta. Barbara, was still 7.6  feet above normal level.

Because of this, the floodwater in Sitio Casintak in Longos and Sitio Maros in Lasip was one foot deep, while Sitio Panqui in Nalsian was 1-2 feet deep.

Kristen Joy Soriano, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, told IFM Dagupan that the level of water on September 6 at the Marusay River was 8.2 feet.
